Marshall Union Manor
Neighborhood

Marshall Union Manor is located in the heart of one of Portland’s most desired urban neighborhoods. Our residents enjoy the convenience of downtown living. If its not within walking distance you can easily access public transportation outside our building by way of a Tri-Met bus or the Portland Street Car. Some of our residents prefer to drive their own cars and are able to utilize our off street parking. Our location provides easy access to several freeways that lead to most anywhere in the outlying areas of the city.

The Nob Hill Neighborhood along NW 21st and 23rd Avenues is filled with an incredible variety of buildings: beautiful updated old houses, apartments, and interesting and unique retail businesses. Marshall’s residents regularly participate in the activities and volunteer at The Friendly House, a non-profit neighborhood center and social service agency that creates community by connecting people of all ages and backgrounds through education, recreation, and other daily living services. Just down the street is Good Samaritan Hospital and the next block over Eye Health Northwest , as well as a multitude of medical offices and services.

Seniors at Marshall who love to read can catch the Street Car outside and visit the Historically recognized Multnomah County Central Library, the heart of the city’s library system. Originally built in 1913 and extensively renovated in the mid 90’s, this amazing place is a regular stop for many of our residents! The variety of restaurants are endless in northwest Portland such as – Laughing Planet Cafe, Just Pasta Company, Red Onion Thai Cuisine, the list goes on and on.  A noted favorite is The Mission Street Theater offering food, drink, movies, music, as well as a rich history.  Some of the grocery/pharmacy stores in the surrounding area include –Trader JoesFred Meyer , Food Front, Safeway, and Walgreens Pharmacy.

If you happen to be directionally challenged Northwest Portland has been given the official name the “Alphabet District” making it much easier to navigate. The streets in NW run alphabetically, starting with Burnside, Couch, Davis…up to Wilson Street, and as you go further away from the Willamette River the numbered streets get bigger. Marshall residents love living in northwest Portland with a wonderful mixture of people from all walks of life and endless things to do and see. We hope you can visit us and see for yourself!
